Care Tips

Caring for Your Fresh Flower Bouquet

Thank you for supporting our farm and choosing locally grown flowers!

To help your bouquet stay fresh and vibrant for as long as possible, follow these simple care tips:

  1. Trim the Stems

Before placing your flowers in water, use sharp scissors or garden shears to trim about ¼ inch off the stems at a 45-degree angle. This increases water absorption and helps extend the life of your bouquet.

2. Place in Water Promptly

It’s best to get your bouquet into water as soon as possible after bringing it home. This helps prevent the stems from drying out and ensures your flowers stay hydrated and happy.

3. Use Fresh, Clean Water

Fill a clean vase with fresh, room-temperature water. Be sure to change the water every 1–2 days to prevent bacteria from building up and clogging the stems.

4. Keep Cool & Out of Direct Sunlight

Place your bouquet in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight, heaters, drafts, and fresh fruit (which gives off ethylene gas that can speed up wilting).

5. Remove Wilting Blooms

As flowers naturally begin to fade, gently remove them from the arrangement. This helps the remaining flowers stay fresh longer and keeps your bouquet looking its best.

6. Feed Your Flowers

Store-bought flower food is great, but you can also make your own! Add:

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • A few drops of lemon juice or white vinegar

to the vase water to nourish the blooms and reduce bacteria.

With a little love and care, your bouquet will continue to bring beauty and joy into your home for many days. Thank you again for choosing flowers from our farm — grown with heart, harvested by hand.
